Sony got off to an early holiday start for its Will Smith superhero actioner Hancock and grossed an estimated $6.8M on Tuesday from special preview showings that began at 7pm across the country in 3,680 theaters. With tomorrow is a public holiday in US for the 4th of July Independence Day, therefore 'Hancock' will create a massive collection for the weekend box office tally. Starring Smith as a chronically hung-over, often-reckless superhero, "Hancock" is expected to give Sony Pictures its first No. 1 release of the lucrative season and gross $70 million to $80 million in its opening weekend. His last movie 'I Am Legend' got USD$77.2million in its' first weekend last year December. Well, probably this one will be getting better with the 'superhero' theme which is more 'family driven'. My predictions this weekend 1) Hancock USD$80Million
"Hancock" centers on a tortured superhero (Will Smith) who crash-lands in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, and tries to transform himself by romancing an alluring housewife, causing chaos in the city.
